Welcome to orthopaedic-surgery.gr which is the web page of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon Ioannis Kontolatis.

The purpose of this web page is to give information about usual orthopedic problems and to promote his work.

The information given should by no means be considered as a substitute of clinical examination, quote or therapy by your treating physician.

As a good piece of advice for finding the better treatment and physician for you I would suggest the following

·         Find a doctor that you can trust and follow his/her advice to the letter

·         If for any reason your trust to this doctor is not solid, find another doctor that you can reestablish a relationship of trust and follow his advice to the letter avoiding any efforts to make combinations of therapies or opinions.

·         For many pathological situations there are more than one acceptable lines of treatment; the choice of your treatment is a combination of current literature (golden rule), your physician`s training (feasibility in using specific surgical technique) and mainly your needs and expectations.

·         Regarding the possibility of a surgical intervention it would be wise to have in mind that no surgical complications has the person who does not operate, few complications has the careful surgeon (as he ought  to be), good is the surgeon who can successfully deal with his complications. It would be advisable to choose someone who can reproduce the success rates for every operation  published in medical literature.
